DDG’s new luxury condominium 180 East 88th partnered with the non-profit Ladies Who Hoop, an organization dedicated to empowering women of all ages through the game of basketball, to host the First Annual Free-Throw Contest featuring former WNBA Star and Cover Girl Kym Hampton and Ivy League All-Star and current pro-athlete Armani Cotton to help reveal one of the building’s amenities, its basketball court.

Guests had the opportunity to sign an “empowerment wall” and were led through drills and treated to instruction by Ladies Who Hoop Founder Amber Batchelor and the organization’s Director of Organizational Development & Programming Meagan LaDue to dust off their court skills and prepare for the lively free-throw contest that followed. In the end, attendee Michael Deutch prevailed and won the contest, and was able to direct 180 East 88th’s donation to one of three funding initiatives for Ladies Who Hoop; Future Ladies Who Hoop. 180 East 88th is being designed, developed, constructed and managed by DDG, whose Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Joe McMillan, was also in attendance.

Situated in the Upper East Side’s coveted Carnegie Hill neighborhood, 180 East 88th is being developed, designed, constructed and managed by DDG, representing the firm’s first Uptown project and draws inspiration from the pre-war boom in high-rise masonry construction in New York during the 1920s – 1940s. DDG’s design team pays homage to the lost art of traditional craftsmanship while maintaining a modern aesthetic. The property’s façade comprises a total of 594,443 bricks, handmade by Danish firm Petersen Tegl. Internally, German plaster artisan Jan Hooss was commissioned to create an installation that celebrates the stucco that was prevalent in Upper East Side architecture at the turn of the 20th century. 180 East 88th offers 48 graciously-appointed private residences ranging from lofts to five-bedrooms, full floor and duplex units, as well as a gracious triplex penthouse. When complete, the building will include a partial indoor basketball court, soccer pitch, game room, residents’ lounge, wine room, private fitness and yoga studios and an interactive children’s playroom.
